Giving hope to children and youth in Korogocho.
We help children and young people realise their potential through basic education, nutrition, life skills, mentorship and community-led environmental action.
A place to learn, grow and thrive.
Ufanisi Centre was founded in June 2008 in Korogocho, Nairobi, in response to poverty and the difficulty many families faced in meeting children’s basic needs. The Centre began by providing basic education, food and clothing, and has grown to serve children and youth through a wider range of empowerment programmes.
In 2017, Ufanisi expanded its work with adolescents to include reproductive health and life skills. In 2019, youth and environmental protection initiatives were introduced to encourage practical, environmentally responsible habits at home, in schools and across the community.

To guide children and youth toward realising their potential through basic education, food and clothing.
To empower children and youth in difficult circumstances to discover their potential and develop their talents.

Learning together. Building opportunity.

A permanent home for learning.
After more than a decade in a makeshift structure, Ufanisi Centre moved into a new building that provides a more secure and conducive learning environment. With support from well-wishers, the Centre acquired land and developed facilities that include classrooms, a small kitchen, toilets, an office and accommodation for a caretaker or volunteers.
The Centre continues to seek support for desks, an improved kitchen and sanitary area, a modern office system, staff and child welfare, and expanded youth life-skills opportunities.
